Bruce F. Morriss was born in 1964. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1986. After receiving his Juris Doctorate in 1990 from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University, he was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1990 and the bar of the District of Columbia in 1992.

He practices in the areas of civil and criminal trial law, having tried well over two hundred cases to a jury, and is a trained arbitrator and mediator. Professional memberships include the American Association of Justice (AAJ), a life member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL), a founding member of the National DUI Defense College (NDDC) and founding member of Georgia DODD (Defense of Drinking Drivers).

He is admitted to the State and Federal Courts of Georgia, the United States Supreme Court. He is married to his wife Kym, and they have one daughter Samantha. Interests other than law include aviation; he is an aircraft owner and holds a commercial license and instrument rating. He is an avid hunter and sportsman. He is legal counsel and licensed as a private investigator to Investigative Consultants International.

Volunteer work is in the area of public safety, including acting as the legal advisor and Public Information Officer of the City of Clarkston Police Department.
